Carved Wooden Young Kiwi Bird - Made in Rotorua NZ

This wood carving features a young Kiwi Bird, celebrating our icon, the flightless bird we love and name ourselves after.  The beautifully carved keepsake has the natural warmth that only solid wood can bring. 

This Kiwi is carved with its beak poked into the ground, searching for food.  Kiwi poke their long beaks into the ground to find earthworms, grubs, and insects to eat.  They are the only bird withkiwi nostrils at the end of their beak, which it uses to sniff out worms deep underground.  They are omnivores, so will also eat seeds, berries and some leaves.  Kiwi have also been known to eat small frogs and koura, fresh water crayfish.

Created in Rotorua NZ from sustainably harvested Tulip Wood, the Kiwi bird has been carved to show off the beauty of both the bird and the wood.

The Kiwi bird is approximately 9cm x 11cm x 4.5cm (3 1/2" x 4 3/8" x 1 3/4"). 

A Maori Koru design is carved into the base.  

It's a beautiful piece, solid, and looks great from any angle.

The Kiwi would look good on an office front desk, on a mantlepiece or table, be it in New Zealand or overseas.
